Mine Was about 3 Years Old....Merc Recommends Replacing Yearly......

They tell you that because 99 1/2% of the people don't maintain them, they bring the boat home and let it sit till the next time, by then it's dry and nobody bothers to put any lubrication in the pump before they start it, so for the first 15 seconds it's running dry and the impeller gets real hot, don't take too many times before the rubber gets brittle and breaks, it only takes 30 seconds dry to wipe one out. Also when it sits, part of the impeller is not relaxed and it tends to take a form and then when it does relax cracks will develop and next thing you know the ears brake off!..

Its been so long since I've skied a can imagine the pain I would be in.

Some of the guys I skied with back in the day taught themselves how to barefoot I thought they were nuts.
