The sad part is that most states require the PFDs for kids while the boat is moving, ie; underway or adrift, but not when stopped and anchored. テつI understand the reasoning, who wants to sleep on a houseboat wearing a PFD? テつEspecially a 6 year old. テつBut I've stopped and talked to people that are at anchor and swimming and as soon as they stop, they take the PFD off their baby. テつ
familyties, thats a great place to keep your throwable. テつThe reason they got away from making the throw rings and switched to the seat cushion style was just for that. テつMore people are likely to have it right there under their butt and ready to use テつ . テつAlthough if you're a current Preparation H user, the old style ring might be better. |
Not to hijack the original thought...but once while putting through the gorge we were approached by a Sheriff who asked that we stop and allow him to perform a "Courtesy Check".
Of course I complied, no reason not to. All of his questions were asked and answered.....he seemed a bit perturbed that he couldn't find anything and when asked where our throwable was I pointed to my wife who was sitting on it, "There it is", she held it up.
Well that's when he got all ridiculous on us....."You know I could cite you for that, don't you?" I asked what? cite us for having a throwable?
"No, it's not readily available if she's sitting on it"
I just looked at the guy...you know look - the one that says, "You're an A$$hat and you know it"
I had 15 PFD's and three fire extinguishers on board a 23' boat and this was how it ended...have a nice day テつ テつ |
The various LEO's in Havi are have had a bad attitude for the whole past season when they can't write you. Under the butt or feet sounds like a real safe place to keep them to me. "Damn you sure know how to fock things up."-GFR
