FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A motorcycle stunt rider from Phoenix has died from injuries suffered during practice for an exhibition at Texas Motor Speedway.
Jim McNeil was taken by helicopter to Fort Worth hospital, where he was pronounced dead, track spokesman Mike Zizzo said.
The 32-year-old McNeil had been part of the Boost Mobile FMX team for nine years. He competed five times in the X Games as an extreme motorcycle stunt rider.
McNeil was practicing in a souvenir area outside the TMS gates Sunday morning when he got hurt. He was preparing to do an exhibition for a sponsor and wasn't part of the track's official program of events before the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
