| Quote (Tom Brown @ Feb. 09 2015,9:51 am) | From there, we determined that Havasu Doug was our mutual friend and she asked how I met Doug.
| Quote | Doug and I met in Culiacan, Mexico circa 1982. The date is a bit fuzzy because I used a morphine drip throughout the late 1970s until about 1986.
Police raided a transgendered strip bar and a bunch of us went to jail. Doug tried to fend off the constabularies by squirting them with milk from the boobs of Jorge the truck driver but we ended up in the same paddy wagon and, ultimately, the same cell. They took our money, identification, and assorted sexual paraphernalia. Then they set our bail at $600 per person.
We rotted in that place for weeks. At one point, they stopped giving us food and water. We were weak and desperate when we realized the guards had abandoned the jail.
Doug was much slimmer then and could reach through the bars. He managed to remove the garter belt from a man sleeping in the next cell and used the clasp to pick the lock. Watching him do that is why I am a devout Christian to this day.
Once we got to the street, we needed food and transportation to get out of there. Neither of us had any money and we were desperate men.
We agreed to not talk about what happened next but we managed to make enough money to get some food and a ride. We made it to the border. I was so happy, I barely noticed the strip search.
Doug and I have remained friends over the years. We agreed to never discuss the incident but every couple of years we head back to Culiacan for a fun weekend. Little is said because little needs saying.
Don't tell him I told you. He is a private man. |
