I know we all have them so let’s hear your funny or amusing launch ramp stories! Ok I will start.

One day as I put the boat in at a local lake I backed down the ramp into the open space between two people. When I got out of the truck to unhook the boat I noticed that the truck next to me wasn’t a truck at all. It was a Honda civic! It was lowered with all the import performance stuff on it including a coffee can tail pipe. Hooked up to its miniscule trailer hitch was a trailer that I can only assume held a jet ski. I looked around to see where the owner was and soon realized it was locked and parked there the jet ski was nowhere in site. This jackass launched his/her jet ski and parked their import tow rig right there on the ramp.

I couldn’t help but laugh as I pulled the boat off the trailer.

Miller, your story reminds of a time that a Suburban was on the ramp with 2 PWC's on the trailer. 2 guys had a blanket on the hood and their lunch spread out on it.  I interupted their picnic to ask them what they were thinking?  They responded that they were waiting for a third PWC to come back to the ramp, but they had no idea where their friend was. :guns


My other launch ramp story can be summed up in one picture, :laugh



This made the Extreme Blooper section in Extreme Boats magazine's third issue. :good

I dont have any...... I launch in Havasu, only "pros" launch in havasu... lol   :D  :confused

I did get yelled at once by a lady on a boat waiting to get retrived. I was laughing my ass off watching this truck Jack knife about 6 times.

Back up... jack knife, pull foward.. back up, jack knife... over & over again. I said "what are they doing!" When the lady in the boat looked at me and said "shut up!"
I was really drunk at the time too, (I was on some one elses boat) so one of our crew members bet me that I couldnt back up the trailer straight. I took the challange and the cash! Backing down a triple axle is a lot eaiser then a single or double axle.  :D

Later that night I lost the $ in a pool game.  :( But at least I didnt loose to Shelli. lol  :laugh

I do have some funny rookie moves I pulled at Lake Perris, But I wont share those ones. lol  :D

Doug is that Bill in the picture?

My story: Watched Scott Gillman's (Former Formula 1 boat racer) crew back in his $100,000.00 race boat and forget to untie it from the trailer. It pulled the boat straight under. Can you say professional? :eek

I watched a guy try to drive his boat  on the trailer ----   must have been drunk - cause it ended up in the the back of his truck - ( nice hole in boat tooo ) - dumb ass  :beer

Ok I have got another one:

This also occurred at a local lake. We were pulling up to the dock to go get the truck and noticed a very obese woman in a moo moo on the hillside above the launch ramp yelling at her kid who is scaling the cliff face next to the launch ramp she was making quite a scene. Sitting in the water on the ramp is another on of this bovines children on a PWC yelling back at mom. To set the scene a little better they were all decked out in 1980’s Wal-Mart fashions. That they had probably been wearing since the eighties. Then here comes dad barreling down the ramp in his pickup. You all know the kind it was a 70 something Chevy with mismatched body panels and covered with bondo and primer. Well he proceeds down the ramp until he is just about next to the water. He has no trailer mind you just the truck. He then gets out and opens the tailgate and proceeds to back his truck into the water. He stops when the bed is fully submerged under water. He then starts revving the engine (with its exhaust fully submerged) and yelling to his buddy “Bubba” (I kidd you not! ) “Hey look Bubba it’s a jet boat…..Har……Har…..Hee….Heee!” After he is finished amusing himself he had his son drive the PWC into the bed of the truck. Meanwhile during all of this the Mom is still yelling at junior. He then opened up his partially submerged door and got in his truck and drove up the ramp.

It was quite a site!

when i was 16 had a 69 rayson flattie with a tunneled 468 chev( i was  going to speed ski  but got a job instead )  back in the day i was in goood shape  ( now just shape ) any ways the rayson was very particular on the days she wanted to run ( notice she )  it was one of those days when it didn't - just got done making a pass in the cove ( by ramp )  pop  and stop - had to get towed to ramp by a bay liner full of smart asses -  so they were capp'in on me , i was smiling - when i got back to the ramp - there was a few hot  seniors i knew waving to me and saying hi  bla bla - so here i am on the bow  of my rayson holding the rope ( didnot tie off ) and these smart asses gun  there boat and pull me off the bow under water --- I was pissed -- told them tanks for the tow -  felt like a jack ass - girls still came and talked to me - but i was pissed  :angry
