Yes, it does.  It is a hardware firewall, not a software firewall.  Personally, I prefer a hardware firewall over a software firewall because simply put, anything that is made by software uses code (Programming Languages) and "code" can be analyzed and tweaked to get through.....if a person really wanted to. Your Linksys Router more than likely is using NAT, Network Address Translation, and what that does is the actual WAN side, (Wide Area Network....Internet side) of the router uses the real IP (Internet Protocol) address and on the inside of the LAN (Local Area Network) it assigns sort of an "alias" or Private IP address to each computer, yours is probably in the class C range at 192.168.?.?.  So, the PC isn't actually using an IP addres that is viewable to the outside World.  Did I make that simple enough?
