| Quote (AZKC @ July 08 2004,7:45 pm) | The whole reason I cked in was to tell of a focking credit card thief trying to charge 1000's of dollars on one of my cards in New Jersey. The fraud dept caught it but I didn't trust the guy on the phone very much either So now I'm parinoid and going to spend the weekend getting all new cards.
Be careful out there |
I've ran into that before. Had someone in FLorida get a American Express in my name, charge it up to the max, and never paid. When they called me and asked why I haven't paid I asked them what address they sent the card to and they said someplace in Florida......I've NEVER been to Florida in my life!. It was taken care of and a fraud alert was put in place on all my credit reports to call me personally to verify new credit applications.
Also, Tuesday morning I received an email from what looked like CItibank. It said that there has been some theft problems recently and I MUST go to this website link and change my PIN or my Mastercard will be temporarily suspended. I knew it was bogus because I don't even know if I have a PIN, but I went to the link....it looked like an official Citibank Website, but the URL was incorrect. Someone trying to get everyones CItibank card info and PIN numbers. I called citibank and they confirmed my suspicions and had me forward the email to their fraud department.
ALWAYS be careful with your credit cards and monitor them closely. Now days with the Internet, it is just too easy for thieves to rip off people.
