With all the activity there has been the last few weeks it makes me wonder who has any cool or scarey stories to tell about it.
I have a few to tell so I'll start with my own experience of a CLOSE Call.
Many years ago as a child we had a severe storm passing our area, whole family is home and just doing the normal stuff. My brother was in the garage building a model so I went out to see it, right behind me was my mother. As we turned around to walk back into the house we saw a flash just outside the side door, lightning had struck the doorhandle passed through it and was heading directly at me....its kinda weird cuz as fast as lightning is it all seemed to go in slow motion....lucky for me the zap hit the handle of a wheelbarrow and grounded. My mom nearly fainted and my brother asked why the garage lit up so bright all the while ears ringing from the thunder that ensued.
The next day we inspected the outside of the doorhandle and you could clearly see a hot spot where the bronzing had been burned.

No shit, I remember back when I was racing I had an incident once where I hit a hole and everything went fubar and all of a sudden things were moving frame by frame, seemed like it lasted 5 minutes, nobody could believe why I didn't crash and after I seen the video it was like holy shit, it only lasted seconds but it was hairy as hell, but the weird part is at the time it felt like no big deal!..Strange how the mind works sometimes!.. :rolleyes

Ok so another story I got is about a couple I knew that were hiking up on Palomar Mtn not to far from the Observatory. Storm rolls in and the wife gets zapped by lightning :eek ....she's near death but survives :good , lost most hearing and burn scars :( . He lost some hearing but his injuries much less severe. :(
