... in the Las Vegas area... ASAP, like yesterday.

If anyone can point me in the right direction is would be greatly appreciated.

Family/Child welfare lawyer... this is in regards to my new niece. A focking ex-husband of my brother fiance has stirred shit up and my brother can't even see his daughter right now and there's a chance the kid will end up in foster care... :angry

Still waiting to hear back from some people, but an update is in order. I wish I would have known about all this sooner, but oh well, to late now.

Melisa and Jerod both went before a judge today as to the fate of my niece (at least for the present time). Melisa was able to move in with her father, so the judge let her take Jessi come, no foster care. Good News

However, Jerod is only allowed supervised visits [once a week], and then only for a few hours. Bad News.

Ok, talked to Jerod this afternoon on the way to work. He's retained a lawyer and has a court date scheduled for Thursday morning. The lawyer has told him that he will get his daughter back when this is over, hopefully sooner than later, possibly next week... we've all got our fingers crossed.

Jerod sounds pretty worn down, but he's hanging in there. He wanted me to pass on, I wanted to also say, THANK YOU to everyone here on the boards. :good

Both he, my mother, and Melisa can't believe that a group of people that haven't even met face to face can help out so much.

You guys rock. :grouphug

I'll keep posting updates as I found out information, but the improtant thing is that Jessi is safe with her Mother right now, and not in foster care... Melisa is at her dad's house now and away from her insane family (who is also behind alot of the allegations).

Hang in there Aaron. Things have a way of working out in the end. It sort of reminds me of the problems I went through in the past with my daughter. Things for us are pretty good now considering all that happened and could have happened. :good

when it comes to this kind of stuff it is always best to remain calm in front of the judge and get all you ducks in a row ahead of time and keep them there! It is cool to see you backing your brother on this one too kudos to you!! it sounds like the ex's fiance is not someone I would want around my kids at all, I would take a good look @ that S.o.b. and see what you can dig up on him!! good luck!

That's what I keep telling him. Personally, I'm pretty hard to rattle, but my brother is the opposite. Right now though, he's staying pretty calm. I just wish I was closer so I could help him out more, instead of 500 miles away...

He has lots of stuff to bring up on the family when this is all taken care of... that should be interesting.
