I believe Yamaha built the engine in the SHO didn't they?
I'll be rolling into 160,000 miles in my 2000 E350 Super Duty sometime real soon......which reminds me, oil change before next weeks run out to the river. |
The SHO 3.0 was based on the Ford block and rotating assembly with Yamaha providing the top end(i.e. heads, intake, and valve train). Yamaha built and assembled the powerplants, but it was a Ford design.
I loved that car, one of the best engines I have ever been around. Don't tell Demonstaz on HB, but those cars make Maximas look stupid. And at the time they were being produced, they were one of the fastest 4 door sedans you could buy.
They were full of trick shit too. Things like variable length intake runners and DOHC. My 1992 SHO made just 5 less HP then the Mustang GT of the same year.
But like all good ideas out of Detroit, they killed it off in 1996 and replaced them with a POS V8 that was slower and by all accounts a horrible engine. A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.
