The rules will be more of a common sense thing.Put posts in the correct places and no nudity.Things like that.Nothing big as long as some of the moderators dont get a swelled head and go overboard.I have an idea one of them will.Hope not though.We will see in time what will happen over there but Im guessing not much... :laugh

I need the Reader's Digest version.  I read the first two pages and gave up.  Here's my view.  I understand liability issues, but not the issue of threads going off topic.  Like Wifey said about the "dog" board, is it really that big a deal that someone has to step in and stop it?  We see stuff posted in the wrong forums over there HOURLY, but I don't lose sleep over it.  :)

My understanding is this, the major issue is the porn, which is understandable.  Afterall, if I wanted to go somewhere and post a bunch of porn it wouldn't be Hotboat, more like here, but that's beside the point.  :D  The second issue is threats of violence and scathing personal attacks, which never seem to be that much of a problem.  The other things are minor, like threads off topic, and I think that is more along the lines of keeping the tech side of it more techy and the sandbar the area for chit chat, and then the spam.  How many times have some of those boat threads come to the top?  If it didn't sell, it's probably not going to.  I paid to have the Schiada placed in the classifieds on Hotboat, so I don't see a problem with that either.  Just my .02.

As far as spam goes, sometimes it's ok and sometimes not IMO.  I love to think that I may get a deal from one of our friends on the boards like Rexone for example.  Mike is here primarily to talk boats, boating, and with people into that.  Secondarily, we know that he may be able to answer specific questions about boat parts. That's VERY cool. :cool  What I hate is when someone posts topics in multiple forums solely to sell their product(s).  It kind of reminds me of telemarketers. :angry   Now the big question I have is what will be OK over there and what won't.  Will hypertext link signatures be OK?  I use those, but I don't even sell anything over here.  The whole point of this board and site is to have fun and share information. :D

In regards to all the other stuff and the site going to hell in a handbasket etc becuase of the moderators..  

Do I sound like the type to edit someones posts? (Even though 1/2 the posts say I edited them on Hotboat now.. :D)  

Personally I'd rather tell someone to go "F" themselves if it came right down to it.  

I'll probably give people some shit about the "tit shots" though becuase that is what I have basically been asked to do.  Everything else pretty much stays the same.

Except for the fact that "HotBoats West" will soon be taking over as the largest forum on the site becuase that's the only forum that I run solo.. ;) :D  

As far as "On or OFF topic" in Hotboats west..  C'mon now..
So long as it's on the west coast it goes.. nothing good happens on the east coast anyways, so you can talk about whatever ya want.   (I'd look to see alot more local events getting organized in there as well... Part of the reason that I asked for that forum ;) )

I've never posted anything that bad and the desire to stop it from happening won't keep me away from that site either.  Aren't all boards moderated to some degree anyway?  If not by someone with the title "moderator", then by an administrator, webmaster, etc.  Someone is ALWAYS responsible.  It's just that some got away with crap for too long over there.  Now they gotta cry like something is getting taken away.  They never had the right to post certain pics in the first place.  It seems like the same board to me.  I realize many are joking about it too, like by throwing your "edited by" line in their posts.  I gotta admit though, I laughed the first time I saw it.  :D  It will all work out. :D
