The wife and I pick up the new boat hopefully on Friday. As much as I would love to make a bonzai run up to Havasu or Mead, I'm just not willing to drive that far and have some stupid small thing botch the trip. I am thinking about taking it to Elsinore being it is a larger lake and fairly close. I sold my boat in February and have been landbound untill now. :cry  I haven't been to Elsinore since I was a kid  :stupid therefore am in need of some current advice from the HD crew. Where is the best place to launch and where is the place to be on the lake?

haven't been there since it used to flood the airport at the far end , but I have seen people that live there and go often, I'm sure someone will step up with good info. :good what boat, power, drive & post pictures . always love seeing a new boat.

Thanks stingray. I hope to get some input from people that have been there lately so I know where the best place to launch is. I will have to post some pics later being I don't have any here at work. The boat is just being finished after what seemed like forever. I don't like being without a boat. I'm on my second Laveycraft. This time it's the 2750 Nuera cuddy/open bow IO with the 525HP. Can't wait to take her for a spin. :jumpie

sounds nice. should be great, I haven't seen one yet.  boat builders work at there own pace, it seemed like  we waited forever. have you thought about parris for a shake down run?

I'm afraid I might get dizzy running around counterclockwise on a lake. :puke I figured Elsinore might be our best bet for coming close to a real boating lake close bye.

so true. does the new boat come with mufflers, or are they leaving them off. we took delivery feb. as an '05 and we had no choice with mufflers. but its not so bad.

State Park is good to launch, Cranes is place to stay

I'm not sure how many DBs there checking for. I think it was in the low 80 range but I might just be talking out of my ass on that one. The boat has through transom exhaust and was told that as long as you have the trailer hooked up but make sure the boat is afloat that I should be just 2 to 3 DBs lower than legal. :D We will be seeing soon.

I agree with  familyties.  State Park (I think it's city owned now, though) or Crane's.  The city launch is nice, also, but the parking sux.  The State Park and Cranes are both at the North end, exit hwy 74, and the City Launch is on the east side.  If you get off at Main, just follow the signs.  

The lake is starting to get green, from what the Mr. has told me, but it's fairly clean, just doesn't look very nice.  Algae bloom.

          Lake Elsinore Recreation Area Campground/Launch said their closed at the launch
         Elsinore West Marina
         Cranes Lakeside Park
         Roadrunner R.V. Park
         Weekend Paradise
I'm not sure if they all have a launch ramp or not but I got numbers for the above listed.

I think it's the Lake Elsinore recreation area.  The site might not have been updated because they didn't have launching for a while, I think because of Lake levels.  Call them and verify.  Unless the state park has another name.  I know it's not the state park anymore, but we still call it that.

Stay away from Roadrunner.  Their ramp is dirt and no refunds once you are in.   :banghead

I have launched the majority of the time at "Elsinore West Marina". :good   That's where many of the Hot Boat photo shoots are done BTW.  I have launched at every other place on this list except for Roadrunner and Elsinore West Marina ends up being the ramp that I keep returning to. :good

Here's how to get there:

South on the I-15 to Nichols Road and turn right.
Turn left at the first street (Collier Avenure) and you'll drive parallel to the I-15 past an outlet center.
Turn right on Riverside Drive. The road will wind a little bit and go over a hill and you'll see the lake.  Stay on Riverside Drive and Elsinore West Marina will be on your left before Riverside Drive curves left and turns into Grand.

You can get there anytime during the week and usually don't have a problem on the weekends, either, before noon.

Last time I was there, it cost around $15 I believe? :stupid

And don't worry about the algae sticking.  It's so slippery, that it slips right off. :rotflmao

Thanks SouthBay. :beer That is the site I found thismorning to give me what little bit of information I have. It was lacking some of the more detailed information like maps and a personal opinion from someone that knows the area. Trust me when I say if it wasn't for taking a new boat out for the first time and YES I will have the wife and kids onboard, I would be on Havasu or Mead. I got one of those discount letters from the Fiesta in Henderson yesterday just to add salt to the open wound that I have been suffering from since February of this year. I'm looking forward to being on the water and if it has to be green water to keep me from going counterclockwise than thats what it will be. :peace

It's still counterclockwise and a 35 MPH limit, but there is a high speed zone down the middle of the lake that you can legally speed in during the weekdays. :good  Many of the local boat builders tune their boats there. :good

See, that's the type of stuff I'm looking for before I visit a lake. That last minute run to the river is sounding more and more tempting. :stupid  Do they let you go over 35 in the middle only on weekdays? Seriously though, I'm sure Elsinore will serve our needs just fine for this first run. I just hate going somewhere before talking to someone with some first hand experience. I thank all of you for your great responses and hope that someday we can bump into a HD crew member on the water. :good

We've been launching at West Marina the past two week-ends and trips before that.  We go on Sundays, early, and it $21 for the truck, boat, and 4 peeps.  We hit the water, take a few speed runs (short WOT runs around 50), get the boys out skiing until about 10a-11a, then float out in the middle or hit the cove for some cold ones and tunes.  Usually off the water my 1p-2p to avoid the evening "crush"... ;)

They open at 6a on Sat/Sun, and 7a the other days.  The ramp is getting slimey, so we use the far left one; seems to be a little better grip... :D   Get there early to ski, but you can run all day otherwise.  As the lake gets busier later in the morning, the patrol boats will be out and watching behavior.

Despite the algae bloom, and the greener water lately, your boat & trailer come out crystal clean.  The boys don't mind the water while they are wakeboarding & stuff.  Just don't drink too much of it....!!! :rolleyes

Last Sunday was "wacko".....boats & PWC's goin the wrong way, cuttin' across the middle zone, people towin' tubes (which is a No-No).  We left around noon-time.

As far as DB sound checks, never seen it happen.  There were two very loud dry stack boats last Sunday; launched w/o issues.

Nice local place for a quick test run......IMO   :good  :beer

Hey superduty.....if you want....we're making a pacific run this weekend..
With your type of boat, you wouldn't have any problems there....no noise cops, no speed limits, and if you're lucky you'll even catch some air.....  :beer
