| Quote (My Man's Sportin' Wood @ Aug. 08 2005,8:24 am) | My kids are on year-round.  Their school year begins the Monday after 4th of July.  They get October, February and June off.  No spring break.  I don't like it one bit.  I am crossing my fingers they change it to a semi-traditional next year. There is talk about it. ÂÂ
Because of this crappy schedule, I have no problem taking them out of school on Fridays here and there, and we go ahead and take a vacation for spring break. This year, during Easter week, they took a pile of school work with them and did most of it in the car.  Their grades didn't suffer any, so we are doing it again.  The school of course has a fit, but my response is, "then get this school on a normal schedule and they won't miss as much."  It's summer, dammit! ÂÂ
I feel our time as a family or exploring other cultures, history, and seeing America is just as valuable as anything they are doing in the classroom.  In moderation of course. |
I have to, agree where do they think kids are going to come up with things for the " where did you go on vacation" essay?
