I was watching that plane land yesturday :plane , with memories of another plan that belly landed and burst into flames...  

But man.....   That pilot gets a medal or something!  That landing was just beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Dead nuts in the center of the runway! and ground that front landing gear down to the stub...

I'd be willing to bet that the last thing someone said before the cockpit went "sterile" (i.e. no other conversation except what pertains to the landing) was "Everyone's watching, make sure you land on the centerline..." :D

The front page of the Times has a close up photo of the cockpit...  Its sorta funny.. You can see the co-pilot with his hands up on the dash, and the pilot looks like he is just sorta chillin, like its no big deal  :drink

I heard that they knew something was wrong pretty early on and so they circled trying to use up the fuel before attempting the land...to avoid flames...pretty talented pilot and smart on top of it too  :good
