I purchased a Cherry Condition, all original 1967 Chevy Bel Air for my son in February and drove it back to NorCal.  This was a birthday present for him for his 17th birthday.  He moved back to NorCal with his mom and Step-Dad in November.

SO, he has this VERY nice classic car parked across the street from his mom's house, and his step dad, not paying attention, backs his truck into the rear left quarter panel and bumper, causing alot of damage.

After talking to my son at length about the deal, seems like his "other Parents" (I use that term loosely) are NOT willing to get it fixed for him.  I felt so bad about it that I made arrangements to have the car picked up last weekend and taken to a friends body shop, and I will be paying for all of the repairs.

Is that BS or what?  Why do I have to pay for my ex's and her husbands ignorance and unwillingness to make it right?  I had to do it because my son feels like he has no way to get it fixed.

I don't know...It just pisses me off the way it went down :angry  :angry

On the brighter side, my son KNOWS who helps him out and who don't.  He'll be back here on 4/14 for a week and is planning on MOVING back up here in June.  Thinking maybe he's tired of the BS down there...Just had to learn for himself

What an ass.  That really stinks.  Also that his mom wouldn't stand up for what is right for her child and pay to have it fixed.  I don't know what's worse, a man who doesn't take responsibility for his own actions or a mother who doesn't do right by her children.  Glad to see he has someone willing to take care of it for him.

BTW, you could send them a copy of the bill just for sh!ts and grins to remind them of what asses they are.

I actually get along with my ex now, but this crap pissed me off.  Guess it's just her true colors showing through.  My son says she ain't got no $$ cause she spends it all on Lottery Tickets (She makes $22hr and nothing to show for it :rolleyes  :rolleyes )

A little more info.  My son invested all of his savings ($1800.00) into this deal, and I paid all the rest plus all the costs of the trip.  The car WAS appraised at $16k and only has 36 k original miles on it.
This was a recent deal....I delivered the car in February (The weekend of the LA Boat Show) and my son's birthday was last week 3/23.  The car was wrecked 2 weeks after he had it and other than a quick test drive, the car has been parked since I delivered it to my son.  Talk about adding insult to injury........

I also have promised my son that if he ever wants to sell it, I will buy it back for everything that he has into it (It really is a nice car :good  and I wanted to keep it every since the drive to NorCal :D  :D )
