Our trip to the fairly new Sand Hollow Reservoir got off to a rough start. Had to buy a new slide-in for the Class II hitch on my wife's Escape because my son misplaced it when he used her car to haul his bike trailer.
Got up to the lake and as soon as I fired up the boat, the solenoid hung up and kept cranking away. I ended up ripping the battery cable out to make it stop. Had to paddle the boat back to the trailer, pull the boat back out and perform emergency surgery in the parking lot.
Got the solenoid fixed, repaired the battery cable clamp and the rest of the day went like a fine Swiss watch.
Weather was perfect, water like glass most of the day and even though it was fairly crowded, no incidents, accidents or assholes.
On the way home we had a great dinner at the new Cracker Barrel.
