That is the most impressive combination I've ever driven in a turbo-diesel and the only one I haven't driven is the new 6.0 Powerstroke and I haven't heard anything good about them, although they're new and have some bugs to work out.

This is how I spent the day yesterday.  From Oklahoma City to Phoenix in under 12 hours while getting 20+ miles per gallon.  I haven't figured it out yet as a total trip, but that Duramax is bad ass.  



I just got done pulling off all the pinstripes, body molding, the Duramax and 2500HD badges.  Windows should get tinted tomorrow I hope.  I ran into a problem with the wheels, as the ones I want aren't out yet, which could explain why I haven't seen them anywhere.  Maybe I'll have to go with the Welds now afterall.  I'll see what kind of deal they'll give me.  :D

Yeah, the Duramax is an Isuzu motor and between it and the Allison tranny, all I can say is wow.   :D

Let's just put it this way, the last time I stopped for fuel I was in Grants New Mexico.  Hauled ass the whole way home and 350 or so miles later, I'm still at half a tank.   :)

I'd buy the package just for the tranny. :D I just drove my dad's 8.1L with the allison down to Tucson and back a few weeks ago.  Dropping into the Salt River I put it in tow mode and never touched the brakes all the way down.

That is just cool.  :cool

What year is that Jordy? They had an issue for awhile, loss of coolant, ended up having a headgasket update. I think there was a tsb on it but not sure. The neighbor 2001 one has only been in for repair for the trans, automatic 4wd, pcm, pwr window on passenger side, rear differential leak, and air conditioner.  Its funny to listen to him talk, swears up and down its still far better than his 99 powerstroke.

BTW these are farm pickups. He smoked the trans pulling a fifth wheel trailer with a D7G with a dozer blade on it. But it did pull it!

Glad ya had a good trip JP, I like the 2500rpm@90mph, my 460 is around 4500@90.
Quit playing with the new truck and get the boat ready. I should be at the water this weekend if my pump makes it back this week.
