WASHINGTON - Ready for some good news on gas prices for a change? How does $1.15 a gallon sound? It’s within the range of possibilities.

There has been a major drop in the crude oil price and barring a catastrophic earthquake or a very big new problem in the Middle East, the barrel price will go down much further. Crude-oil prices have fallen about $14, or roughly 17%, so far and is expected to drop far more in the coming months.

Also, the peak summer driving season in the U.S. has ended and oil inventories are high, so, oil companies then risk getting stuck with excess oil supplies.

AAA says the national average for a gallon of unleaded gasoline is currently down to $2.59. If the trend continues as expected. oil prices could go way down to $15 a barrel - perhaps even less. Hence, the price of $1.15 a gallon could be a reality and be great for the American economy.

Hmmm, timed with the upcoming elections, no doubt... :rolleyes   It's still above $2.90 in my area.... :beat

It's about time!! I paid $2.35 on thursday. on Wednesday it was $2.39. On monday,It was $2.45, So the price is dropping here at a nice rate!! Although it would be nice if it dropped a little faster!!

I'm thinking (in California anyways) that it has something to do with Prop 87. The oil companies don't want you talking about how friggin' rediculously high the prices are come the second Tuesday in November.

BTW, I paid almost a dollar a gallon less for deisel yesterday than I did last month. Of coarse I'm not pulling my boat to the river so it matters little now. Bastards!  :banghead

I keep wondering how long until the next supply disruption, it's either going to be another broken pipeline or they're going to have to do plant maintenance. The price has dropped way to much over the last two weeks and the Gas NAZIS aren't liking it, they have a plan and we are going to get it in the end again... :beat

These gas price hikes are bulls**t to begin with. We shouldnt be paying any MORE than $1.50 for 87. And why is it that diesel fuel is the most expensive out of them all?

I am sure that even with these hybrids, the government will find a way to f**k those owners as well.

After gas reached over $3 a gallon, think about how great $2 a gallon sounds. This is what the government/oil companies refer to as "operant conditioning". I refer to it as "total bulls**t".

Actually thanks to California, diesel needs much more refinement now to remove most of the sulpher. Diesel was still $3.46 per gallon in Idaho last week. :angry

Where'd you buy that D-fuel at PBK? I still paid $3.00+ in AZ yesterday. Saw the cheapest gas at Terribles on the south side of Havi at 2.49

Out here it is still way to high. The cheapest stations in my neighborhood (other than Costco) are $2.79.9 and $2.83.9.
The best part is, that our legislature here in Ca is trying to trick us into voting for another new oil tax, that they have slapped on our november ballot. They are trying to tap into our anger at the oil companys by labeling it as an "oil profits tax". What a bunch of horseshi#.
