I have to attend a three-day conference beginning today in Riverside at the county office. So I'll have a sub for 3 days in a row. Most likely not the same sub all three days, and if I'm lucky, I won't have a different teacher subbing each period. See, when they don't have enough subs, teachers have to sub during thier prep period. They usually aren't too happy about this and leave the room very disorderly. I'll have to go in every evening and reset everything like instructions, seating charts, etc for the next day. Last time I had a sub, I had 3 worksheets for the students. Two were important, one was extra in case they ran out of stuff to do. The sub had them do one worksheet (4th period did none of them) and played "heads up 7 up the rest of the time. :banghead

He told 2 classes that they didn't have to finish it, that I'd give them time tomorrow. :banghead

I hate having subs. Especially when it's not my choice.

We have sub shortages here as well. Sux! Never know if Subs will be available at all.

We were supposed to have yesterday off, but they asked us in for in-service. The first time they have asked the "aids" to attend. I was kinda jazzed.

Angie gives what the subs duties are a whole new perspective.....they're babysitters in their own minds.
Sadly it seems it leaves the teacher with even more work to catch up with, and having to get the kids back up to speed.

My daughter started her Science class this year with a qualified sub because the real teacher is on leave(medical). Couple weeks into it and the guy quits...so this class is kinda screwed up now.

Well, I had period subs all day, but it looks like it went well. The homework was all together, seating chart was where it is supposed to be. We'll see what it looks like this afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed.
