Is there one certain place that it happens? Mine is always on the drivers side just about where the dash starts! |
Mine has happened all the way around, but it has happened more on the drivers side. I think that's because I use that side to tie up to docks.  I don't have any cleats on the boat, but I use the base of my drivers side air horn as my first tie up point and my ski tow as my secondary.  If I really want to be secure, I tie to the bow eye as well.  I use bumpers, but there are still up and down stresses transfered to the molding.
Now when I use a slip, that's a completely different story.  The way that I tie to the bow eye and ski tow, the boat centers in the slip and never touches the sides.
BTW, I think people sitting on the edge of the deck and sliding off into the water puts stresses on the molding rivets as well.
