I got this from one of my trucker site, this guy is a DOT in cali.

 I coudn't believe my eyes when I read this article from our departmental newsletter last night. These dumb ass lawmakers are going batty trying to figure out ways to make up for the deficet that they put us into. 2 proposed changes that are believe it or not making their way through the board are that 1) Making CHP Officers pay for the gas that goes into the patrol car and 2) Eliminating patrol cars totally south of Bakersfield and put them on motorcycles. Do these people even have a clue at the stuff carried in the trunk of a car to do their job?? There's even talk of closing our place down due to it being too antiquated. California thinking at it's best imo....... Come on Cottonwood transfer  .......... You guys ain't the only ones dealing with stupidity.........     I say start with pay cuts for their stupid asses FIRST! They make their own raises every few months without anyone knowing about it, our guys ain't had a raise in 6 years................... The only thing keepin me in this damn state is this job, the bennies can't be beat.

My neighbor was a truck driver all his life but gave it up about a year ago or so. He now works as an inspector at a weigh station. I think he saw the writing on the wall, he owned his rig and had a regular route but continued to see a increase in operating expense with no increase of load pay.

I don't see them politicians offering up some of THEIR salary to help with the deficit... :beat  :pissed

Everyone in the Cali School System is supposed to take a 3-day "furlough"...no pay days off... :banghead

Lets get rid of the state provided cell phones and cars that all the law makers have and make them pay for there own. That would save money right away. but i don't think that they would like that.
