A few little birdies have recently told me they be the next to get taken over..they did a lot of those high risk loan jobbies..

Wamu has gone from about $12 per share down to $4 per. Indymac was shut down at $3.90. Yes there's other facts too. Still a big drop. Not to sure I like this. I think I have 8 accounts there.

Crap.  My elderly renter has a 100K CD with them and she can't even take care of herself, much less deal with complicated banking issues.  Hopefully, they'll stay afloat by next week when I can get her down to move some stuff around.

My Grandparents survived the depression and everyone calls me a dumba$$ for saying it, but the last 6-7 years have been goin' down the same path that they used to tell horror stories about! Consumer products and services rising in cost while average wages lag way behind. Not talkin' about you $100,000+/ annually guys, but the majority of the nation has just not kept up. Adjusted wages went up a paltry average of 2% in the last 6 years.....and we all know that the cost of living has far exceeded that. Then the housing fiasco. People "panicing " and trying to  pull their monies out of the banks. They even said that the government, even then, tried to keep things on the "down-low", as they are now. But hey!  :( Cheech and Chong are back together and gettin' a tour together! :good

Ditto Here to. 5 years ago I had money out the wazoo, now I just get by and nothings changed, I still make the same but my taxes went up a few hunderd and gas went up a few bucks and food well just a little there so I don't see whats the problem.

For sheer evaporation of shareholder value, it’s hard to top what the holders of Washington Mutual (WM) have had to endure. Over the last 12 months, their stock has fallen by 90%. Over the past five years, it has fallen 35%--annually.

So, on Friday a London Based Hedge Fund with ties to Dubai, purchased a 6% stake in Wamu.
