Apparently Galveston didn't issue a total evac order for the city until today...now helicopters are scrambling to rescue people. On the plus side, if they're using the same chopper pilots that they did in Katrina, one of my best buds trained most of those guys and they are as good as you can get.
There is a freighter with 22 crewman aboard that has broken down in the gulf, 50 miles from Galveston, directly in the storm's path. Coast Guard has aborted their rescue attempt. Air Force was trying as well....but it sounds like the crew is on their own now, drifting. Can you say Edmund Fitzgerald? God Bless the crew...and their families, and those trying to save them. "This is for all the friends I've known, this is for all the ones who've never left me alone. This is for all the ones I've lost along the way...thanks for being a part of today."
