I was really pulling for General Quarters, but Mine That Bird was my second fave.  Talk about coming out of nowhere! :eek  :good

I'm just glad that all the horses appeared to come thru the race unscathed.  I have to watch through my fingers, I worry so much about the horses.  Been too much sadness over the years. :(

I hadn't heard about one being put down yesterday. :(   I knew one had been scratched earlier this week, and one this morning, but I didn't hear them say anything about one being put down.  Last year with Eight Bells darn near killed me, I still can't get the picture of her lying on the track out of my head.  And Barbaro... :cry

Santa Anita spent eleventy gazillion dollars on a new track that was supposed to be safer for the horses...and couldn't even use it because they didn't install a drainage system. :rolleyes   Small wonder they went bankrupt.

No drainage plus the new dirt was a slip'n slide.  :stupid

Very cool how Mine That Bird tore up the rail for the win.

Boreing 4 hrs of network coverage for an exciting few minutes at the end. It's like watching a basketball game.  :p
