Just sharin some pics of my latest money pit :)

1960 Mercedes 190sl with a Judson Supercharger...  For a whopping 140 horse :)

It is the same model and color as the one my mom had growing up :)

I actually sorta cheated... It was restored 6 year ago with all the chrome redone, etc... So the outside cosmetics are fine, except it could use a color sand or paint.
 
All Im doing is ditching the old Solex carbs (they work now, but they ALWAYS are a pain in the ass) for Weber 40 DCOE's replaceing rebuilding the Supercharger a.k.a Kompressor, taking the engine apart and checking it out.. Then putting it all back together and giving it to mom to play with :D

Maybe GFR will chime in on suggestions...  The name of the game here is RELIABLE not my usual.. Woooo Hoooooo  lets make this sum-beotch go faster  :break

They are pretty sweet!  Which ones does your buddy have???  If he has Ferraris I bet he has a 300sl which is worth 150-300k  but looks similar-cooler:) I would love to be able to collect cars, half the satisfaction is testing them out once you have made them better! But all the frustration is when they break... You DONT look so cool being loaded on a tow truck  :beat

I might have to borrow it for a cruize everyonce in a while...  I love the hardtop/softtop convertable option...  

BTW...  Dumb question but where is Central?  (AND NO I dont want to know, to go there!!! )  :bebe

That's a cool ride!. :good  You want "reliability", don't mess with it keep it stock, even the carbs aren't bad as long as you keep them clean, but the Webers are an improvement!.. Moms should get a lot of trouble free miles out of it!.. :good

Thats funny you said that...  It has proven to be an old car already :banghead

The day I surprised her with it, it stopped shifting into reverse :(.....  But I found out it was a guide bushin on the shifter that got loose and bolted it on, and all better:)

I decided to wait for the solexes to die, and then slap on the webers...

The 190SL is a timeless classic and it looks like yours will last a very long time.

Those Solex carbs aren't all that bad as long as you keep oil in them. :good
