One idea is to reach out to the local HS's in the area about developing an "intern program".  With so much focus on College Prep these days, Trade Skill Learning has almost been abandoned. ÂÂ
So far, not much positive response...until yesterday...
Jurupa Valley HS, just a few miles away, responded with the following:
Gary,
I really appreciate your correspondence and am very glad to hear that the boating industry is making a comeback.  I am a boat owner myself and have an appreciation for the craft.
Though the current educational trends are toward college and career, Jurupa Valley High School is not abandoning trades all together.  I have fought to keep our auto program in place here and our new engineering program has a fabrication component to it as well. ÂÂ
I know our engineering teacher, Mr. Free would be very interested in working with us to find a way to provide internship opportunities with you.  Let’s find a time to sit down and talk about what both your needs and our options might be and see if we can’t come up with a solution or two.  I would personally love to establish a pipeline of employable graduates that come your way regularly.  Let’s make this happen! ÂÂ

Michael West is his name and the principal at JVHS...he's coming by the Factory today at 9am...
