Pump is leaving next week to go to Jim at Performancejet for an overhall/upgrade, its pretty wore out after 20+ years. But I want to put some garden hose time on the motor(while the pumps gone), so its time to get the bilge/engine compartment ready.  I am hard on equipment but I keep it running well and with a covered engine the bilge is a mess.

Anybody know wear this stuff goes I took it apart in Oct 2002 :laugh

Actually not that bad just needs detailing and alittle upgrading

Let the games begin

OK cleaned the bilge and used some oil based house paint(thanks again to Jim @PerformanceJet) , thinking of maybe a little carpet and some sound deadening mat next.

Time to put an engine in next :cool

OK, help me out here. I've only owned one jet and it had a Berkley. KC what kind of pump do you have. Is the intake actually an intregal part of the hull? Do you have a picture of the transom below the swim deck?

Why yes I do Craig, This is the intake grate....

A little different than conventional Berkleys, its a Pantherjet, good pumps, last forever, this ones 20+ years old never been touched.
This is the intake to the pump

Trying out some sound deadening stuff from Overtons, not what I was expecting, this stuff might not be the hot ticket for boats its a fire retardent cotton stuff with foil backing(I foresee tearing and water soaked stuff in my future) Something more like Dynamat would be a little more durable.

The engine hatch

My pump made it out to PerformanceJet, Jim gave me a call said it will live to squirt another 20 years. Getting it rebuilt and blueprinted, should improve the thrust over a stock pump about 10-15%. Had a great holeshot before, this could make it crazy.    :)
Going to be alittle ahead of schedule now.
