Whats weird is that the original motor I built had no valve clearance problems, although it did have crankshaft probs at about 15 hours. But this was a different block and pistons that ate the 2 heads with same cam

The 049's I got off EBay are getting new stainless valves and new hardend seats and one of his multi angle valve jobs. He also says the stock OE pistons don't have enough clearance for the cam I'm runnin. So now its time for pistons 
I thought .575 lift on a big block wasn't that much 
BTW, what are you going to use for pistons this time??.. 
If you had a broken ring in a fresh motor it was probably from the end gap being too tight or a ring land clearance issue or maybe you didn't have enough water going thru the block on initial fire and the rings got hot!..The rest could be from junk traveling thru from one cylinder to the other!..
