Waterpony, the best thing would be to relieve the exhaust! You would gain 20-25 % more horsepower, reeds I don't know! I run stock ones and shaving the heads,don't really know about that either!
Nitrous is a good bang for the buck, I would just do the exhaust and run a bigger prop, I use a 30-pitch and here is what it all looks like.

) Shaving the heads or running thin head gaskets will bump the compression. Porting is away to make big HP but sometimes if ya go overboard it effects driveabilty in a bad way. ie...screams like a banshee on top end but won't get out of its own way on idle or mid range. This is all motorcycle stuff I'm talking about, but I'm sure it applies to boats pretty much the same way
