So I'm practicing with my new cam degree kit today on the 427 for my pickup. I stabbed the cam at what I though was TDC... but the degree wheel tells all. It seems I was past TDC when I put the cam in, I kept coming up with 112* inake centerline... hmmm.
Out comes the piston stop and spin away... get the motor up on TDC exactly and the timing marks are off about a tooth on sprockets. Off comes the cam sprocket, move the cam a little, move a tooth on the chain... and bolt everything back up.
Find TDC again, check the marks, and on goes the dial indicator... VIOLA... 108* centerline, just like th cam card says.
Maybe there is something to this measuring shit... A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.
