It never ends :banghead Get to the lake yesterday, set up camp launch the boat, running a little weird so back to camp to ck a few things. See a couple of leaks at the pump tweak a few bolts and they stop. A small leak at the steering cable tube, go to tighten it up and SNAP MF'r broke off in the pump :banghead  :puke  :drama

So this is just about on of the hardest parts of the boat to work on, Got to pull the bellhousing off and then maybe lift the motor. Just to get the cable out so I can remove the broken piece with an easy out :break I'm going to call panther on Monday and make sure I'm using the right cable and if they say no. Then I can order the right cable and get the cut off wheel and saw this cable in pieces :angry

At this point there is still about 7-8" of cable still outside the boat :cry

How 'bout this...

At Lake Mohave yesterday, late in day, last thing...

I tell the wife to take "the girls" for a fun ride in the 18' Kona.
She drives to the dam, 3 miles from beach, and the water supply line from pump to engine splits about 1" down the length of the hose.
This boat has about 8" of freeboard and had less than 1" of freeboard as the boat filled up with water.
The girls finally had the smart idea of beaching the boat & fetching me (reluctantly, knowing how happy I would be to hear that my only toy was ok, just full of water, about a mile away. So... they ask the people on the beach for a ride to get me, but being from Romania, they were not able to understand my wife's requests, but smiled alot. They somehow finally conveyed the idea to them and one of their group brought one of "the girls" back to me to inform me of the mishap. (my wife was afraid I might not be too receptive, :angry  so she 'stayed with the boat'.)
Anyways, we bailed out the boat, cut off 2" of water hose & reclamped it & drove the boat back, no problem.
Just a sidenote: My 454 bbc started right up after being immersed up to the valve covers, Alternator still works and no water in oil. I am still amazed !!!

Damn that sucks sorry to hear that, hope you get it sorted out without too much hassle!.. :(

Quite true, but you never know when a fitting might break, a freeze plug spring a leak(although they should be brass), a connecting rod goes through a cylinder wall........   :eek   :)

Talked to Panther today and its just the way it is with the cable. Which is good to know since I pulled the motor yesterday to get the cable out. Also the pipe fitting that broke is some sort of custom piece that I had to get from Panther, its 1/2" pipe on one end and something else on the other where the steering cable nut attaches.
