I know.. It never ends with me and boat projects... But hear me out...

Loaded down with people it takes me one tank (out of two total) of fuel to get from Needles Marina to Havasu, give or take a 1/4 tank... And I hate filling up on the water..

So I was thinking, since I have a tons of room on either side of my engine, and the water jacketed manifolds keep it very cool in there, I would add two extra tanks to the boat for those trips where we are traveling from needles, to the dam...

Has anyone ever done this? Am I going to blow my ass up?

What do ya think???

Make sure they are vented outside the engine compartment and I would use a bulkhead or enclosure around the tanks for extra protection. My .02.

Is there enough room to just replace your tanks with bigger ones?? I'm thinking about the extra wiring and plumbing that is going to be needed to just add tanks. (filler necks,vents, feed lines, guages, flow valves...)

I really dont know what I want to do... It might be easier to pay to fuel up on the water...

My tanks are already 18 gallons per side. I wonder if I could fine two 30 gall side tanks that would work?

All the extra gas equals extra weight, which will effect the way the boat rides but your diverter may be able to compensate for it.

Just trailer the boat to Havasu :drink

I hate driving to Havi... Ã‚Â Take almost an hour, then you have to deal with the "cool people" and their 28-48' ocean liners, LE for noise checks, lauch ramps, etc... Ã‚Â I would rather drive my boat, stop every 10 miles or so, and relax, wakeboard, float..etc... AND SKIP THE CHANNEL ALL TOGETHER!!!! (I know thats sac-relig so some, probably not so much on here though)

I only go to The Zoo for the party :beer

As far as a boating lake it sucks for most people. Unless you hit it on an off weekend or day its a mess. As is Parker. Good place to party :beer

I agree... I can party and get myself into trouble on my own!!! When Im on the river I am avoiding the party! Just chillin with good friends and hopefully meeting some cool peeps in a cove or one a random beach!!!

MrCord, I take two of the 5 gallon race cans with me, I place them in the open bow area on the floor, I know it is a pain in the arse to haul the extra cans but having that extra fuel is mighty nice, I dump them as soon as I have the room in my regular tanks then place then in the engine compartment under the hatch, just a thought for you...

Here is an example of what I have found.

I would not recommend that at all, mainly because of all the plumbing and electrical to connect them all in and extra vents, also the weight is a factor in handling, not to mention bringing the value down some!. Myself I would just have new ones duplicated with more capacity and keep it simple and sanitary, and "safe"!.. :good
