A friend of mine bought this boat last year(less motor)and after about 6 months he asked if he should just buy a motor or have one built, I told him he'd be better off having one built so he asked if I'd build one and I said sure what do you want, he says just a plain old motor to putt around in, 500hp would be great, I says ok whenever you're ready. About two months later he calls and says he wants to go to Burley, how about a "K" motor(blown alky)??, I says whatever you want, then he asked if I wanted to drive it(had to regroup there for a second, LOL)I said "HELL YEAH". So we're off and running I hope to make the Parker race in April for a test session!.. :good  :jumpie  :jumpie

Collecting some parts for the motor, rules call for an open boat to be 470ci max, 871 and only 15% on the blower. Since the budget is limited I'll have to do the best with what I got, so it will just be a 468 with off the shelf parts!....

This is a new Dart Spotsman Big M block, should be adequate!.. :good

Well there's a lot of variables there, depends if you have anything to start off with and how good it is, or you're starting off fresh???.. A 400hp motor is not much more than a stocker so you don't need all the high dollar parts, so it can be done pretty reasonable. Machine work is the same regardless, the labor can vary but to do it "right" naturally will be more!..

The one that I have needs to be rebuilt. It has about a one inch crack in one cylinder, but was running when we pulled it out of the truck. I was told that it could be sleaved without any problems.
