Friends sister just bought a 18 ft. Galaxy with a 502 and Bravo I/O. Think it might be a wake boat as it has a tower on it. Anybody know anything about these boats? Maybe a pick?

I would guess that PHP= propshaft horse power. I would also assume that it must be some kind of performance builder to put a 502 in an 18' boat. I belive that there was a custom boat builder called Galaxie in the late 90's.....don't know what happened to them, though.

Prop HP was my first guess but I'm not sure. This 502 I'm told is factory stock. Also was told that WOT is about 45 MPH. 1+1 is not equaling 2.

17 feet 10 inches. only 2500 lbs. 502 cu. in. at 4800 rpm with a 19 pitch prop at 45 mph equals 21.8 % slippage. I think even a river barge could do better.

18' boat with a 502 and ONLY does 45mph??? It's eather one heavey ass boat or a VERY doggie 502. :stupid

I have a GM 5.0 ltr (305) in my 21' and have seen 48mph. Sure they have there specs correct?? :stupid

I would have to agree. No way there's a Merc 502 in that lil boat. Even with a 5.0L package, 45mph seems a lil slow... :stupid

Don't get the builders putting towers on entry level production boats... :rolleyes

Yeah that don't make sense, if it does have a 5.0 it could be propped wrong and pulling the motor down, keeping the r's down for liability purposes who knows, the whole thing don't make sense to me at this time!.. :stupid
