What is the max rpm's i can spin stock chevy rods?

They have ARP rod bolts......like its a big deal or not :D  Still stock.

[i]m looking to get 5500 and stabs to 6000 at a time... but cruise it about 4500-5200.

And whats involved in doing a piston swap in a motor that has not ran since being rebuilt......  From a cast piston to a Hyper or better yet FORGED :good   Im thinking instead of building another engine, just swap pistons :D

Or say screw it and get drunk :drink

I've ran stock rods and cast pistons 5-6000 rpm and they held up fine. Not saying they'll hold that for a long amount of time but for every now and then I say no problem. Of course some stock rods are better than others :D

I'm sure Art will give you the low down in abit :comp

Back in the day I ran truck rods with good bolts 7500, but I also changed them out quite often. But back then all you had was Carillo and Oliver, and unless you were rich, that wasn't going to happen. With the availability of aftermarket stuff and low prices today, it don't make sense to run stock rods, by the time you detail a set of stock rods and put good bolts in them, you'll have just as much in them as a set 4340 rods and you'll still have GM junk!.. Stock rods will last a while at 5500, but the part that hurts them is grabbing air and rpm's are to the moon sometimes, that shortens the life of them big time!..

Pistons involve re balancing and honing the cylinders for clearance,  cast and forged take different piston to wall clearance!..
