Yeah, unfortunatley I know shit about engines except that I want a bigger one...I wish I knew how to build them myself...my dad was not into it much, so I never learned as a kid...guess it is not too late to learn.

Because of the way your name just kinda popped onto the screen and seemed like a logical title. Â They all seem to happen that way. Â They just pop in out of thin air. Â |
Yeah...one velo/jet joke, and I am relagated to Flounder...like I said before...only one way and that is up. Â Â

I am learning right now. The first thing that I learned it that it is expensive! |
Not the parts as much as it is the machine work to get everything perfect. Well, the parts are pretty crazy too....

Do you mean the mistakes learning are expensive? or just building an engine is expensive?
I realize they are expensive, but I remember someone's thread on HB, where they said something like "yeah, but reputable builders will add 10-12K to sprinkle their magic dust on the same engine you can buy and have assembled"

I am sure you could.

Just the parts. You end up with if I spend $30 more I get a much better X and if I spend $35 more I get a much better Y and so on. Before you know you have shot your total budget!

No magic dust here...bought used, got rid of all the depriciation and it is pretty much stock 502 w/Whipple....However, next Engine upgrade will be GT upgrading the existing 502 to 725-750, new Whippled 540 EFI GT Motor, or if I can find a killer deal (have seen a couple on OSO), I will go that way...don't really want to spend 30K on new motor, but I won't be doing for at least another year..I am fine for now.

Yeah, well, I'm pulling my motor and going to see what I have as far as compression ratio. If I am under 10:1, I am going to get a cam and blow it this winter. Just 5-7 lbs. If I grenade, I will get nice pistons and rods, etc....

Either that, or they were being chased because they were transporting Magic Dust
