There's a cool website that might be of interest here. You can set up a split screen with a modern aerial view on one side and pick an older year for the other. Then, you slide back and forth to see the new development. This screen shot is the Havasu Channel compared to 1969.

Here's something creepy. In my research of the Branson duck boat tragedy, I found the spot it went down. I, then, overlayed an image from before the lake was created. You can see the steep slope, roads and structures.
