I have a old PC I play with and it has pc100 sdram. I bought 2 256 sticks of pc100 sdram and it does not read it, works fine with the old ram. When I boot up the computer it beeps 3 times, 3times and then 1 time   :angry Then it just sits there and laughs at me

You said an old PC, how old will it hold that much memory???. :stupid

A room full of f'in comedians :bebe

I tried it even with just one 256 stick and got the same results, it has 2 slots one has a 128 and the other has a 64 and they work fine just trying to speed it up a bit more. The computer is about a 3-4 years old HP 7840

Can someone ck the memory out somehow?

AZKC,
That computer, the HP 7840, only supports a total of 512 MB of RAM.
Here's the specs.
Component
Attributes

RAM (standard)
64 megabytes (MB) PC 100

Maximum
512 MB (2 x 256 MB DIMM)

Speed
100 MHz synchronous

Sockets
Two 168-pin DIMMs

Size
32, 64, 128, and 256 MB DIMMs

Free DIMM socket
1

Pairs Required
No

Type Supported
SDRAM, 100 MHz,
Intel PC SDRAM unbuffered DIMM specification,
revision 1.0 compliant

I would check to make sure that the new RAM is the same type as the supported type listed above.  There are many different types of PC 100 RAM.
