How many drives did he break before he went to the dark side ? |
Don't remember if he broke any or not, all I know is he took a ride in a v-drive and that was all it took to change over to the "bright side" He's "Hallett" on HB, Bob is his name, he's got a bitchin Schiada with a blown motor, it was in Hot Boat magazine last month!..

When the water is low down river, a jet boat is the only thing that will do.

Well, I don't know about that.  A V-Drive does pretty good in low water if you're going fast enough to keep it outta the water   |
Im not baggin on v-drives,there is alot of them on the river, but south of Walters Camp at certain times you need a boat that only drafts about six inches of water to make it through.

Now don't get me wrong....I love to feel my cheeks slappin' against the back of my head when I put my foot down drivin' my buddy's v-drive....and yeah as long as we're movin' shallow water isn't a prob.....but sooner or later...you'll: a. run out of gas b. wanna pull in to eat and drink c. get 'er on the trailer
And damn, those props are 'spensive!
I'll keep my jets...and my kiddies feets

Well, since we started this argument... I don't buy the Jet's are safer than Props dealio...
My brothers and I grew up at the lake, and Dad had an outboard on the boat. Â Whenever we were beached, the motor was always trimmed up to the stop, with that big old nasty meat grinder sticking out of the water. Â To my knowlege, none of us, our friends, or people around us ever got cut or hurt playing around the boat. Â
I would almost venture to say that a V-drive would be damn near imposible to cut someone with, unless you ran them over. Â And I don't think it matters what you're driving if your running people over with it..

A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.

Yes props can be expensive but if you look at the price of a Casale v-drive unit + price of a prop there isn't much difference than a jet pump and when you add in the price of placediverters, loaders, droopsnoots, aftermarket impellers you will spend way more for a jet pump that still doesn't put the power to the water as well as a prop. Â I looked for a drive comparison chart that I saw years ago on the APBA or IHBA web sites that compared outboards, outdrives, jets, stearndrives and v-drives.It compared handling, fuel eficiency, power, reliability and some other catagories and the jets placed last in every catagory except fuel milageand and they were next to last just before outboards. And v-drives placed 1st in almost every catagory.
