Its already been over a year since I signed my life over to the Navy...

My rate is DCFN...which is Damage Control/Firefighter...Well I just got back from DC school in San Diego and had a killer time down there...heres a few pics...

We always have to go through a safety breifing before we start any type of evolutions...

Inside a compartment...its been hit by missles and is flooding...thats when the DCC comes in {Damage Control Central}...

Got to stop the flooding...

We had to escape through a scuttle with water coming through it as if you were on a sinking ship...the force of the water was so strong we had 4 sailors at the bottom pushing us through...

We all made it through...cold and soaked!

The sailor in the yellow helmet was our On Scene Leader...every fire party on a ship has one...and is usually a Cheif Petty Officer...

After looking at those pics I'm grateful that I only have to deal with fire on the land. Seems a little easier than having tons of salt water being shoved down your face.

If I wouldve known I could bring my camera to DC shcool I wouldve gotten fire pics. Saturday we put out an Alpha fire with a 2 1/2 in. hose and wearing SCBA...and we secured a wild hose using the Z bend and a 2 1/2 clamp...

I'll get fire pics when I go back for advanced shipboard firefighting.

For training the water was fresh...but in real life not only is it freezing cold salt water..but it could also contain flammable liquids {jet fuel..oil..etc} depending on what part of the ship was struck.
