Thats great! The talk is the water level is so high now that they may have to close the city launch off of Riverside. The peninsula is under water

The owners of Crane's need to get those chain link fences out of the lake. They kept extending the fence as the water got lower, to try to keep their beach private.
Now that the water is coming up, the fence needs to go!
A lot of people are going to have prop damage if they dont take care of it.

That's getting pretty high. I lived just south of Roam Hill when the lake flooded in the mid-ninety's. It looks like it's almost as high as then.

1245' today. The "new" city launch will be open this season. It was built in the late 90's, but had to close when lake level dropped below 1242'. It is on the east side of the lake, closer to the freeway, at Lakeshore and Limited, near the Sheriff's Station.
When the water started dropping in '01 and '02, that ramp was closed. In the summer of '02 the city cleared out all the boulders and debris that were high and dry. These were real prop killers when the water was up...so now it should be a better place to launch. The only bad thing is that the typical afternoon winds make that launch ramp very choppy.

It's all a giant flood plain south of there where the MX track is and that is where they approved building of a golf course community. The track is supposed to re-locate closer to Grand Ave.

It's still one of the few places around with a "NO SPEED LIMIT" zone... You see some heavy duty machinery out there from time to time...

I'm pretty sure they sold it to the city, or gave it to them, not sure. Someone else may have bought it other than the city, but I'm sure the state gave it up.
I remember when I was a kid, my mom water skiied around the whole lake in February for her state issued "polar bear patch." She was an awesome skiier. But February! Brrrrrr!

Just for giggles, I did an overlay of the 2 photos. The perspectives are slightly different, but you get the idea.
