Just thought I'd bring the discussion over to Doug's.....the Parker accident has many peeps re-thinking their setups...

I have one with my POS Yami but, to be honest, it's not always hooked up to my life vest, wrist, leg, etc.

It will ALWAYS be attached from now on....

It's a great idea and if I had a hand throttle, I would have used one by now (I think).  My current setup is a foot throttle, with a spring return.  I've been thrown from my seat before and it went straight to idle.  I know foot throttles are kind of rare on any boat larger than mine though.

Has there been another accident? Or are you refering to a past one?

I have a kill switch too - as you know- but I lost the clip/cord halfway through the summer and slapped a cable tie on it.  :banghead

Don't worry, I found it when I cleaned up the boat at the end of the season and clipped the cable tie off. I'll put it on the top of my list....

This thread is a result of the 34' Advantage Party Cat that threw the driver and passengers in Parker last weekend. :eek  One of the passengers died. :(

The issue arose because the boat ran in circles for awhile before it eventually crashed.

I never heard of the accident. Where do you go to find the article? I too have a pos yamaha with a kill switch, and have never thought about using it.
