Thought I'd share a few pix from this past week-end.... We went to Havasu for the President's Day Week-End, and I took a side trip up to Needles on Sunday 2/20/05.....
The desert is GREEN....not brown...!!!

Sunday was beautiful....not a cloud in the sky...

Some lucky Boy Scouts on a canoe trip down the Gorge....

Stopped at Park Moabi....talked with "TY" at the store....
The ramp is coming along, going to be 100ft wide and NO BUMPERS... The are bringing in 30' x 55' flexible concrete for the bottom of the ramp, then pouring the new launch ramp after that.....TY said it looks like LATE APRIL to complete the work.

Floats around the construction....

Moabi Lagoon....

Doesn't look like Jack Smith will be ready for awhile...

They have raised the outside wall and back-filled it in....

Needles Marina is "high & dry" as well, just waiting for the river flow to return....no work in progress....

Looks like I should have gone thata way over the weekend. The high desert was a bit muddy!
I sure do hope the water starts flowing soon. I hear the jet boat tours may go belly up over this!! |
We headed out Sat and got POUNDED by rain to Barstow... Once on the I-40, things dried out until we hit Barstow on the way back on Monday....
The Victorville to Barstow 3-lane expansion is just about done....thankfully... Nice wide lanes, shoulders, and it looks like MORE lanes to be available in the center...

| Quote (MrCord @ Mar. 02 2005,2:26 pm) | Hey. Â Im going up to the river this weekend. Â If I launch in Havasu do you think I could make it to Topac, or no way?????
Thanks |
McC, You should be able to go through the Gorge ok, but I would stay south of the I-40 bridge; it's pretty low from there north. Can't get into Golden Shores for cocktails either, as I know it....
They are projecting to up the flow out of Davis to around 3,000cfs by th 12th, but that's still "half" the normal...
Have fun....the weather looks to be a lil iffy, but mid 70's if things clear out...
