This is actually a question for you machinists/fabricators.....

I'm chasing a .867 x 1.106 tapered reamer or something close it can be a tad bigger if thats all there is. We got a 1970 Grove crane here thats got a broken tie rod and it is obsolete and unavailable thru any of my sources. Found some tie rods that are close but the taper is off just a bit. Of course I've looked around on the web but can't seem to find anything with the 1.106 big end.

I would get a hold of BudgetBaller over at RRL he is a VP (or something like that) at Rutland tool. They are a machine shop supply company and would probably have it if it is a standard tapered reamer size.

Otherwise you could have one custom ground from a tool grinding company. It will probably cost you a few hundred bucks to have a custom one ground.  

You didn't say the taper angle. Here are a few that go over 1.1 but I don't know if they will work for you.

Thanks guys :good  I cked thru reamers.com and didn't see one in there. And had all ready heard about the custom built stuff. I'm finding more out about the taper today and will keep diggin :break I told the fockers to get after it with the die grinder :eek  :laugh The crane moves about 50ft twice a year if that :rolleyes
