Someone was telling me that there is a new noise restriction for Havasu...  Is this true???  Or just someone blowing smoke? :flamed  :confused

Nope, you heard correctly... It's actually a California regulation, but since Havasu is on the border it's enforced everwhere on the lake.  A good rule of thumb is OT of Thru Hull without at least baffles you're not in compliance.  In reality it's going to take mufflers to pass, unless you have exhuast through the hub or underwater.

I'll see if I can get you some links to the Hotboat discussions on the subject... :D

Here's a good thread on Hotboat...

http://www2.hotboat.com/forums....t=Noise

Arizona is still as it always has been, I think 86dB at 50' at idle or something like that.

All Cali really did was change the testing procedures.

I haven't been tested so this is all hearsay.

The new noise regs have been enforce since Jan 1.  From what I understand they are not being to hard-assed about this as of yet, mostly fix it tickets, or just put it on the trailer until you get it fixed.

The Marina has imposed their own sound levels, and have been hasseling most perfomance boats for the last year or so.

I don't know what motor you run or how much it has been built, but my impression is that anything above stock compression and cam will have trouble passing the letter of the law, though you might be close enough slide by.  Thru hull and below swim steps seems to help from what people have been saying.

Boatcop (who is down in Parker) has posted that they are not giving tickets unless the boat is grossly out of limits.

You can buy a cheapy dB meter at Radio Shack and do you're own testing, just to see how close you are.
