Hey river rats I have a question....I had a 21 foot jet, and had a great time running the river. Parker, Avi, Needles, there wasn't anything the boat wouldn't handle.

Well 2 years ago we had 2 rough trips out at Havasu, and my wife said "bigger, faster" so I moved up to a 25 Shockwave Tremor. Well both times I've taken the 25 to Parker I have sacrificed a prop! :angry

So the question, any of you river rats that have moved up to a bigger boat ever seriously consider moving back down to a smaller ride again? I miss running the river, and the i/o has never wound my crank like my jet. So, have any of you made the move back to a smaller boat?

Thats why alot of peeps have 2 boats. I've stayed with jets because I can't be careful enough to have a prop. Tough thing though on the bigger jets is it takes a bunch of HP and a good pump to get them down the lake at a good speed. I think if you found the right hull in a 21 ft'r with a jet it would handle most of Havazoo's conditions but it still gets to bad there even for the larger boats sometimes you just have to wait it out in a cove.

Oddly, that is exactly how I ended up with a bigger I/O boat as well. So far I have no regrets on the change other than some of the "fun factor" I had with the jet. Overall I don't think I'd change back but if finances were good I'd have both.
Get some polarized glasses, they help you see through the water better for prop killers.

Bre and Andy were talking about going back to a smaller boat, but I guess they changed their minds.

That was the first one that went. I was following some peeps on river lice, swung a little wide of them, and wack-wack-wack, a stainless mantel ornament!

The second one was just idling around in some murky water close to shore (totally my fault, I knew better), but both of them happened in the day light.

In the jet it really didn't matter, because it didn't really draft a lot of water. But I guess my question has been answered....never go back to a smaller boat....just buy another one!  :good

Guess its time for that second job!

Thanks.
