Arrest Rate Up

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz:
Over the Easter weekend holiday, the amount of arrests in Lake Havasu City went up from last year's numbers, according to Public Information Officer Charlie Cassens, but not in all areas of law enforcement.
“In the morning, typically, there’s eight officers or so, and then in the afternoon, there might be a few more; and then in the late afternoon, early evening is when the greatest contingent of officers is present in the Channel,” said Cassens.
This time last year (2004), a total of 116 arrests were made, however this year 141 arrests were made, continued Cassens. A majority of the arrests made were alcohol violations and most of them were done in the lake’s Channel. Out of the 141 arrests: 67 were California residents, 41 were from Arizona or other locations and 33 were Havasu locals.

That mix doesn't surprise me, but there have many threads on the various boards claiming that the Havasu locals don't cause any of the trouble.  It looks like no one's perfect. :rotflmao

When it says alcohol violations, is that drunk in public, DUI  :beat , or just being an idiot?

I can see them CLOSING the channel area to boat parking, even adding foot bridges to block traffic in the near future.  The only permitted access would be tour boats from the north entrance.  What's taking place today is not what the city had in mind for their tourist draw, I'm sure.

Some folks can party quite nicely without being an idiot and attracting unwanted attention which only leads to a closer look and thats when they get popped.

Fun is fun, but stupid isn't fun. :stupid

I was in Havi the week prior, some of the kids that got arrest for :cry  under age consumption were crying their eyes out literally.

As AZKC pointed out---a lot of them are for underaged drinking---they are cracking down hard on that.
