| Quote (Ziggy @ April 04 2005,2:26 pm) | On Knott's. Looks like I'm taking Jan(her B'day wish) and the daughter this coming weekend and I know you are the resident expert. What rides are a "must" and which aren't. What to see and what to skip. Parking, long lines to avoid, anything you might think of thats helpful. I lived just a few blocks from there in the early to late 60's but haven't been there in a least a good 10-15 years now. Thanks dude . Â Â Â |
OK, here it goes. I'm not really into thrill rides, but I can handle Ghostrider (the wooden rollercoaster). I would say that's a must! Â Excelerator is pretty fun, too, but a little scary the first time. Â Check out this thread for photos and a video of that ride. They made me do it. You probably want to hit the Log Ride for old time sake. Â The big train and the Calico Mine Train ride are the same and those might bring back some memories. There's a bunch of puke rides that I wouldn't even go on so I can't report on those. The worst ride for me there was Montezuma's Revenge. Â I didn't get sick, but came close. Â The newest ride is the Silver Bullet which is a hanging roller coaster. Â The long line situation is not easy to predict so I won't even try. Â For example, sometimes they run 2 trains on Ghostrider, but usually just one. Â They have line dancing right by the train station that's pretty funny to watch. Â They have regulars that we see EVERYTIME there. Â
For parking, I usually use the free parking in the lot right by the Ghostrider. Â It's free for the first three hours, then you pay by half hour increments after that. Â It maxs out at $15.00 though, so if you're going to be there for awhile, you're better off parking in the main lot across Beach Blvd for a flat $8.00. Although there might be other ways to access both of these lots, the way I know is to come South on Beach Blvd and merge right into Knott's. Â The first left is the main lot which you get to by going through the tunnel under Beach Blvd. Â The "free for the first 3 hour lot" is a little bit farther down past the shops right before Ghostrider.
Have a great time!

Well, maybe you can answer me this; everyone knows that Mrs. Knott kix out a mean jam (that's of the jelly variety for you freakin' fellow headbangers), but is she HOT? |
Isn't she getting old by now? |
LMAO!..

I take my kids there every year. You have to try the Perilous Plunge, for the ultimate adrenilin rush, 250' drop straight down. Â It's scary at first, but once youv'e done it you will truly feel invincable! Â Supreme Scream of course, if the line's not too long. Â Jaguar is the best roller coaster. Timber Mtn. Railroad is cool because there are times toward the end of the day where you can ride it and get right back in line again and just keep riding with hardly a wait. Â Don't forget to make funny faces for the camera, right as you go over the falls, so you can see your photo at the end of the ride. Â Food - try the ribs at the BBQ place in Ghost Town. Â I like La Cocinita, they have good food & you can get a good value if you look the menu over (plus its the only place there where you can get a beer or Margarita! Â They usually have some kind of entertainment in the fiesta courtyard for you to check out too. Â I don't know how small the kids are you're bringing with you, but they can see the Peanuts and Snoopy in Camp Snoopy, but you have to ask someone when they'll be around and try to show up at that time. Â Have fun
Drink more beer!
