Since HotBoat is down, how 'bout bringing the drama over, temporarily of course...
What do you say about the Havasu Channel..??
Ways to control channel behavior LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – The Lake Havasu City Police Department presented a two-phase recommendation to help with behavioral problems in the channel. According to police spokesperson Lt. Richie Sloma, the first phase involves cutting down on the amount of space used to park boats at the south end of the channel and to be able to shut it down when necessary. “We want the authority to be able to close down the channel for a while to stop the boating and what some of the council members describe as ‘the show’ to kind of bring everybody back down to a respectable level of behavior,†said Sloma. The second phase deals with the possibility of issuing a limited number of permits to boaters. Mayor Bob Whelan said that going in short steps is the way to deal with this issue. “I’m confident and hopeful that the steps that we’ve taken tonight will be successful in dealing with the behavior issues,†said Whelan.

You nail'd it Gig...
We too have the benefit of "life experience" and still have a preference for open waters and peaceful quiet.
The last time I went through the channel was 2 years ago...towing a 28' American to the gas dock..

Yep, there's was something "magical" about hearing a hot motor's VRWAPP VRWAPP echo off the walls of Big Bend at 6am in the morning....

Indeed...Big old Chrysler setups... Â |
Should we give you guys some privacy?
I don't think I've been there in a couple of years, either. Been to the sandbar, but not the channel. I hope they don't close that as well because then all the troublemakers will head up to Mohave. BTW, Mohave sucks people, don't go there
Even if they close it, the people will find somewhere else to hang out. Then that area will be the problem. Vertical Beach, the little sandbar, etc. They are going to go somewhere. I don't think one way traffic is a bad idea, nor closing it after a certain time of day as necessary. I hate to see them ban alcohol, but I guess that would solve most of the problems. (I'll have to bring a cup, I guess ) The permit thing is lame IMO.

What's really ironic here is that the "Trouble makers" usually cost the city more money than they spend. The city doesn't want to lose income by discouraging visitors to come and have a good time, but the problems with some people in the channel cost them more money.
