Hello everybody. Just was wondering who you use. I seem to be needing a different carrier. I sold my boat and have a new one in the mold as we speak and can't wait but now comes the problem. My provider says they can't cover my new boat because of the horsepower. I am having a Mercruiser 525HP installed and according to Mercruiser it puts out 500 horses. We contacted my boat manufacturer and they pointed us in one direction and almost fell over when I saw the price. :break I need to do some more shopping. I usually get a small cost break being a took the 14wk Coast Guards safe boating and piloting class and have my certificate. I need some of you Southern Cali peoples help. :grouphug Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

With the HP and size (yes, size matters) you are going to be hard pressed to find "cheap" insurance. The old stand-bys are Progressive and I currently use Foremost. Had everything under Wawanesa out of San Diego and they stopped insuring boats and RV's due to "high risk". Good luck, would like to know who you settle with and shop around myself. Foremost wasn't too pleased with 380hp but they took us though.

You might also look in some of the Boating Mags to see if there are any in there that you could use.

Here are a couple that I found

www.yachtquote.com
www.epboatins.com

I hope these help. I found these in Extreme Boats Mag.

I used to have AAA too. They have got to be the most expensive ones out there, unless you have multiple policies with them, then there's discounts after discounts. But you need to own like 50 houses, boats, cars, and trailers!!!
